We’ve had a lot of adventures together in the past 25 years, and somehow we keep finding new activities to add to our usual mix of game nights, rock shows, and horror screenings. So when Donna showed Alana a handed-down copy of Barbie’s Easy-As-Pie Cookbook, it was pretty much a given that we would try some Barbie-style cooking.
Both of us like to cook but sometimes struggle to maintain that enthusiasm in the face of getting dinner on the table night after night. Alana’s a fan of vintage recipes though, and Donna loves having a project to work on. Since we’re also into writing about our experiences, blogging seemed like a natural fit.
We hope that spending some time cooking like tweenage Barbie fans from 1964 will help us think more about food and its place in our lives. We also plan to write about hobbies and culture from the perspective of feminists whose interests include plenty of stereotypically girly things.
If any of that resonates with you, we’re happy you’ve found our Friendship Club.
